ARGUS DATA INSIGHTS specialises in extracting information from texts, meaning that it is operating in a business sector where artificial intelligence is increasingly being used. Not least due to our many positive experiences with the opportunities that these technologies offer in further developing our products and solutions, we fundamentally welcome the progress being made and are encouraging our employees to proactively incorporate innovations in this area.

 

Given the large quantities of data that we collect using language-model-based technologies and the speed at which we make this available to our clients, we are unable to manually review all of this data before sending it on. However, this does not release us from our obligation to comprehensively check all of the technologies we use beforehand and to deploy them as responsibly as possible.

 

Although we can guarantee that these principles have already been guiding our past dealings with machine-based data collection, we have still decided to transform said principles for handling artificial intelligence technologies into proper guidelines, in order to ensure that they are also clear to our clients and partners:

 

1. We will only use AI technologies that comply with applicable law and statutory provisions.

 

2. All elements of machine-based data collection undergo intensive testing by our experts before they are deployed. The results of these tests are made available to clients using these technologies for their projects.

 

3. Especially in particularly sensitive areas where people could be discriminated against based on the results of AI (e.g. in automatically generated texts), the results are closely monitored to quickly identify and correct any software suggestions that are not in line with our society’s values.

 

4. We offer all our employees the opportunity to improve their understanding of AI technologies and encourage them to keep helping us make use of the opportunities artificial intelligence offers as well as helping us minimise the risks it poses.
